Court re-surfacing is one of our specialities, so we were ready to accept the challenge upon being awarded the tender from East Arnhem Regional Council to re-surface three basketball courts located at Galiwinku, Elcho Island. The area was approximately 1624m².

All three courts were ground and thoroughly cleaned to remove any foreign matter from the current courts surface (including chewing gum). All necessary repairs to the courts surface including cracks and expansion joints were carried out. We then applied acrylic deep patch, acrylic re-surfacer and top coats as per manufacturers specifications.  Line marking was completed as per the previous markings on the old courts.

The mid-section between courts 2 and 3 posed as a trip hazard to users of the courts. We removed and disposed of the existing levelling agent. After some prep work to this area, we then installed Rosehill TPV® rubber, ensuring the finished gradient was even and continuous for the entire length of this section.

Temporary fencing was erected for the duration of the project to minimise foot traffic and allow curing of the acrylic sports surface and Rosehill TPV® rubber.

The courts were then handed over just in time to host their basketball competition on the new playing surface.
